The traditional kaşar cheese of Kars province has to be taken under protection within the scope of “Geographical Marker Registration” in order to make Kars Kaşar Cheese into a public brand, to preserve the production method, and to increase the market share. The project supported by Serhat Development Agency (SERKA) thus started in March 2013 with the idea that Kars Kaşar Cheese will be preserved as a cultural heritage and economic value, and its contribution to the local economy will increase and continue. It is an example of good practice that benefited from supports under IPARD.
