The European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance Rural Development Program (IPARD) “Implementation of Local Development Strategies - LEADER Approach” has been supported in our country. The implementation of the LEADER measure is under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Agricultural Reform, which acts as the IPARD Managing Authority
.The LEADER measure, supported under the IPARD Program, allows local stakeholders to be involved in decision-making processes related to the projects they would implement and the strategies they would realize in their regions. Within the scope of the LEADER measure, which carries out joint development with the principle of ‘we’ and not ‘I’, it encourages the establishment of partnerships called Local Action Groups (LAG) by bringing together representatives of public, private and non-governmental organizations
.LAGs, promote the development of rural areas through the implementation of innovative, locally-sourced, bottom-up development strategies to be designed in order to enable local communities to participate in the rural development process in the regions where they are established and to lay the foundation for long-term sustainable development in rural areas
.In order for the LAGs to be supported by the LEADER measure within the scope of the IPARD Program to benefit from it, the 12th Call announcement was made on January 29, 2022. Within the scope of this call announcement, LAGs have made their applications with their Local Development Strategies (LDSs). The LDSs that are administratively eligible have been scored by an independent Evaluation Committee established by the Managing Authority under the LEADER Procedure
.All 51 LDSs submitted for evaluation have been approved. The approved projects were published on the website of our Ministry and a ten-day reclamation period was expected within the scope of the LEADER procedure. Due to the absence of any objection at the end of the ten-day reclamation period, the final list has been approved.
